Check out our Mykonos Port Guide and find out which port your ferry boat or cruise ship will use!

Mykonos island has two ports! The old port in Mykonos Town, and the New port at Tourlos area, about 2 km north of Mykonos Town. This can be sometimes mind confusing so here is a short guide of what each port serves.

New Mykonos Port

Mykonos port

The New port of Mykonos is located in Tourlos area which is about 2 km north of Mykonos Town. It is a 30 minutes walking distance but not recommended. Especially if you are carrying luggage since you walk along a busy main road without a pavement!

All big ferries arrive and depart from this harbor! Blue Star Ferries, Highspeed ferries, Hellenic Seaways, Fast Ferries, Aegean Speedlines, Golden Star Ferries, etc.

Furthermore, the New Port is connected to “Chora” and the Old Port by Taxi, public Bus, and Sea Bus. The main Taxi stand is situated exactly across and left as you disembark from the ferries (check the map here). The Bus station is also in the same area, just next to the Taxis. The Sea Bus station is a little bit further away towards the exit of the port (check the map here).

During high season it is highly recommended to take either the public bus or the sea bus to Mykonos town since taxis are almost impossible to find!

Old Mykonos Port

The old port in Mykonos Town was used for all ferry movements till 15 years ago! Today on its north quay – jetty, you’ll find many luxury motor yachts docked there in the summer. The rest of the port is still used by a few fishermen and locals owning small traditional boats.

The second quay (Jetty) at the west, and close to the Municipality building, is used by the boats leaving for Delos island the famous archeological sanctuary, and the Sea Bus boats which connect the old port with the New port.

Mykonos is also a popular stop on cruise ship tours of the Greek Islands. Almost all cruise ships dock at the new port in Tourlos, while some cruise ships just moor/anchor off-the old port.

If you are arriving at the new port, make use of the cruise shuttle bus to Mykonos Town. You can also take a taxi yourself, but with so many people arriving at the same time, it won’t be easy to catch one. The cruise shuttle bus will likely drop you off at a parking area of the old port not far from the northern bus station in Mykonos Town. It is less than a 10-minute ride. From there everything is within walking distance.

If you anchor off-the old port a tender boat will bring you within the heart of Mykonos Town! No bus ride will be necessary or available.

Furthermore do not forget to check before you travel which port your boat will use. If you are uncertain, it is better to call the port authorities (tel. +302289022218) or the travel agency you issued the tickets from and ask!
