Megali Ammos Beach

Megali Ammos beach is the closest beach to Mykonos Town!

Located just a 10-minute walk from Mykonos Town – Fabrica bus station – along the coast into the direction of Ornos beach, it is often referred to as Mykonos town beach.

Megali Ammos beach, has no umbrellas and sunbeds due to the strong northerly winds. The sand is not too bad with shallow sea backed by large flat rocks. There are also plenty of seaweeds in the sea which can make it a little difficult for some people to swim in.

Not particularly busy, as the road goes by just behind it and some may find it annoying. However the proximity to town usually guarantees large crowds during high season.

The beach facilitates only one small traditional fish tavern and a mini market just accross the road but it is surrounded by many hotels and apartments.

Megali Ammos beach is the ideal solution for residents of the nearby seaside hotels of the area that do not want to move around or for visitors from cruise ships that have very limited time on the island.

It is directly connected to the town, as the beach starts just behind the famous windmills of Mykonos Town.
